SMOKEY MOUNTAIN DOXIE’S

HEALTH GUARANTEE

and

PURCHASE CONTRACT

Here at SMOKEY MOUNTAIN DOXIE’S (SMD), we offer happy, healthy puppies to future Dachshund owners. Whether you are a seasoned owner or brand new to the Dachshund family, we want you to be happy with your choice of puppy for adoption. Our puppies are raised inside our home with all our Dachshunds as a family. They are not kept in outside cages or isolated from any of the other dogs. They are socialized from birth till they leave to go to their new home. This way they leave here well socialized, well-mannered and in most cases well trained.

SMD requires a deposit on each puppy you decide to adopt which will be applied to the purchase price. This deposit will be non-refundable and will serve as an agreement between SMD and the buyer and this contract will at that time become a ‘binding contract’.

HEALTH GUARANTEE

Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health to the best of our knowledge at the time of this adoption. He/she will be up to date on shots and has had a worm treatment every two weeks since birth. Your health guarantee is for seven (7) days after taking possession of your new puppy. We urge you as a new parent to have your puppy checked out by a licensed veterinarian within seven (7) days of taking possession of him/her. Should this exam reveal a serious medical condition, your puppy will be replace immediately if a puppy is available or when another puppy becomes available. A letter from the examining veterinarian listing the illness or condition must be returned with the puppy to SMD within the guarantee period of seven (7) days.

Although extremely rare, your puppy also comes with a limited guaranteed for one (1) year from date of birth for life threatening hereditary disorders that may show up later in the pups first year of life. This covers only life threatening conditions that can be proven hereditary by a licensed veterinarian. Should this occur during this one (1) year time frame, SMD will work with you on a one-on-one bases to come up with a solution that you as our customer will be satisfied and happy.

Common canine parasites such as fleas, ticks, worms, mites, coccidian, giardia, etc. are not covered under this health guarantee. SMD follows a veterinarian recommendation for parasite control and vaccination schedules to insure you are receiving a healthy puppy.

At no time will SMD be responsible for vet bills or any other expenses once the puppy leaves our premises.

SMD does not guarantee size, color or exact details of future growth and development of your new puppy.

A NOTE TO BUYERS

As some new families must travel a long distance to get back to their home which may require stopping at rest areas, SMD’s highly recommends that you DO NOT take your puppy into a pet walk area. The reason for this recommendation is because your puppy has only had his/her first round of three vaccinations and is not fully protected from the Parvo Virus. Parvo can be brought into these areas by older dogs with no symptoms of the virus. Parvovirus in dogs Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious disease that can be fatal to dogs. Puppies aged six weeks to six months are most at risk. Parvo attacks a dog's cells in their intestine, meaning they become dehydrated and weak There is no cure.

The Parvovirus family of viruses are particularly long-lived in the environment, lasting anywhere from 1 to 7 months -- commonly surviving 5-7 months in an outside environment.
